LIFT is the laboratory of Fluid mechanics and Thermodynamics at UNIMORE, it includes Researchers and Professors from DIEF, Dipartimento di Ingegneria "Enzo Ferrari" (Modena) and DISMI, Dipartimento di Scienze e Metodi dell'Ingegneria (Reggio Emilia).  The expertise of researchers in the laboratory includes fundamental and applied research. Tools employed are both numerical and experimental.  

Computational Fluid Dynamics and Thermal Fluids: RANS and LES simulations employ OpenFOAM & ANSYS;  Incompact3d and custom-made tools are used for DNS. Lumped parameter analysis: Equivalent thermal networks of piping systems and other complex systems (e.g. electric motors) are solved via custom-made software. Multi-objective optimization: Dakota and custom-made tools are used for optimization procedures.
